No terror attacks on New Years.

This is kind of surprising. I was also somewhat surprised when the last July 4th went by without incident--I was travelling with the family over that holiday, and a geiger counter had been packed with a few other supplies in a corner of the van. I would have given even odds that something was going to happen.

Considering the common thesis that there are terrorist cells still active all over the place, what's going on? What are they waiting for? One possibility is that the cops have done a superb job of intercepting potential attacks, and such interceptions have indeed made the news a number of times. The other possibility is that the terrorists somehow can't get it together again, even over a year after 9-11. This latter is interesting, and I don't know what all the ramifications are. Did we bust up Al Quaeda that bad? I was under the impression that a lot of them slipped over the fence out of Afghanistan. Sure, there have been some terror attacks overseas, but nothing in the U.S. What's up?
