Could it be that they are as dumb and incompetent as some of the 911 stories suggested and even the small amount of awareness we now have confounds them?

There is no doubt that future airline hijacks will be difficult and heavyhanded plots involving men with explosives strapped to their bodies is harder here than in Israel. After all they have not shown themselves to be masters of disguise, in spite of their training manuals on that subject.

On the other hand, if they are really smart, it is possible that they feel that further +- 911 type attacks might only raise anti-muslim opinion and anger to a level that would remove all western restraint.

In a way, time is on their side. Each day that they survive brings them closer to the day that they can strike a killing blow instead of merely pissing us off.

What I mean by a killing blow would be simultaneous multiple nukes or a wide spread biological attack, either of which could have a chance of bringing down governments and/or collapse economies.
