Re: I'm neither an abolitionist fanatic, nor an execute-them-all fanatic

I think Jacob is a little off in his assesment of the minorities to majorities issue. If you think about it logically (without anyone crying rasism.) That the majority of crime is done by the minority of people. (Or logically we would be in a socioty where almost all people are criminals, and the few are decent.) Now lets break it down further to motive and opportunity. (Again leave off the race crap.) The people that fall into the lowest wage\ income group are usually the ones that are the people responsable for the majoriy of crime. (Fact.) Also, they are the most needy, thus, motive. (Fact.) Further, the lowest economic positions on the social scale are usually the most frustrated people, with the majority of tough to handle, real problems. (I.E. cannot find work, cannot find suitable work, many children, hard or impossable to pay all the bills, no hope for the future, etc.) The lowest wage group is also more likely to recieve poor schooling or incomplete schooling, furthering their delema.(Compounding the problem.)
Unfortunatly, in our socioty, as well as others, the majority of people that fall into this group are the racial minorities. Not that they are good, or evil. Simply, they are in a bad position much of the time. From there on it only gets tougher.
Ask me for the cure for this problem, and I can give you no answer on how to fix it. Because there will always be the lure of easy money, a quick fix, and a pain killer, as long as we as a people (humans) have greed, and envy. (Our human nature prohibits us from change.)
Oh, by the way, communism doen't work either.
