I fail to see what conditions have arisen which place Turkey in greater danger of attack than she was, say a year ago, unless its current U.S. warmongering in the region which might provoke Saddam, as the CIA veterans have noted.
In fact, the Kurdish question is an area of common interest for both Iraq and Turkey.
Turkey opposes an independant Kurdistan just as much as Iraq does, but any invasion of Iraq is bound to catalyze ambitions among for an independent state of Kurdistan, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that carrot has been dangled in the face of "pro-U.S. Kurds" in return for their support.
This single question alone is a giant mess in the making, and from discussion I've heard on the topic. the U.S. is ill-prepared to deal with it in the aftermath of any invasion of Iraq.
