Charity at home

Remember, the figures I gave was for charity overseas. Doesn't count private charity inside the U.S. As an example, one figure in the same source tallied the value of volunteer man-hours donated yearly by Americans at about a quarter of a trillion dollars.

In any case, I think America has done more for this planet than just about any other nation, and foreign aid is only one small part of that.

We sold the products from that technology at fair market value and got fair-and-square fat-assed rich off of it. I'm not saying w should be ashamed for that, but we got our due and were GIVEN our due. I don't see that as charity or a clear act of simple embetterment of the world.

The idea that improving the world doesn't count if you get paid for it is an odd one, and probably reflects a different worldview. I guess if a doctor cures you, or anyone else does anything to improve your life, it's not a good thing unless he does it for free.
