"Of all the arguments to continue the status quo of appeasing saddam, the 'we used to sell him stuff' is about the lamest."
Where do I argue for the status quo?
We should own up to the fact that we armed him, supported him and made sure he stayed in power.
"We figured out 12 years ago that saddam is a pos.
We changed in response to that."
No, we knew he was a POS a long time before that. The US knew he was gassing Iranians and Kurds even as we were supporting him- We just diodn't care becuase we were really concerned about Iran...
"What the relationship with sadam was before he started gassing his own people and invaded Kuwait is irrelevant."
EB, you are so deficient or selective in your facts. He was gassing his own people WHILE he was our ally. Go look it up.
"hitler and nazi-run companies were big players in the American economy in the runup to WWII. Should we then not have fought hitler?
Get real."
Another ebnelson grade-a non sequiter!
Have at it EB!
