Read Mary Anne's post again - a kind of fatigue does set in. There are quite a few here who it is frankly not worth conversing with, never mind debating. It's just not fun. This silence can get taken - and I'm sure does - as either aquiescence (no liberal posted, must be right) or cowardice (refusing to get into the "battle of ideas" as someone here once put it).
Occasionally a hot button gets pushed, and we'll wade right in.
Other than that, if it's no longer fun, what's the point?
