Yes, there's the rub...

If it were a simple thing we would have solved it long ago.

Atomic energy is dangerous and deadly, but we keep working to find better and safer ways to use it.

I am not suggesting monarchies, hereditary succession, or cults of personality that we know so well. I am suggesting that we look at government like a science that can be improved by technical process. If the old forms of government have outlived their usefulness, isn't it possible that our current forms are becoming obsolete?

You remind us of how well our democracy and constitution worked in the beginning and all your solutions involve going back to the beginning. I am not sure that is possible. That was then and this is now.

I believe in many conservative principles but I am sick to death of having the principles I believe in linked with "right to lifers", creationism, and other fundamentalist bull shit. I am sure I have beliefs that deserve to be designated bull shit as well.

I admit that I have no idea how to arrive at the solution or how to implement it, but I believe the answer is not overhauling the worn out engine, when the piston walls are paper thin. I am certain that it will take new ideas to keep us on top and to maintain our standard of living.

At this point in time I remain convinced that with all our problems we are still the best thing going among governments of the world. Unfortunately, the trend is not encouraging and I am not sure this will be true in 50 years
