I watched Charlie Rose last nite, one of his guest was the Iranian ambassador. He started the conversation "pretty tough"- I was even somewhat worried he was going to go off into the deep end.
The upshot is they want to strongly impress upon the Americans that they want the UN involved in establishing the new leader in Iraq. They also want to make it clear they weren't "happy" about what they called an "illegal" war with Iraq. But they aren't at all "unhappy" about getting rid of Saddam. He also restated that Iran has been and will continue to be *completely* neutral in regards to this war.
My POV, I think Iran is very concerned about this war (as far as their internal security) they are concerned about what might be revealed regarding some of the terrorist groups inside Iraq (the Iranian connections to them). And seem to want "help" in regards to the security of their borders with Iraq (which translates to want to meet with US and improve relations- aid/trade etc).
Iran is not going invade Iraq. No chance.
