Our President Is Responsible To American Not World Opinion

Most Americans support this war. A majority probably would not have before 911. Knowing the change in our own feelings we just don't think the rest of the world gets how we feel.

The world community has ways of showing American how the feel if they disagree strongly and their leaders have many opportunities to privately influence US presidents. I think it is important that they try when they feel the necessity. A diversity of opinions and outlooks helps make better decisions. I am glad world opinion influenced Bush to try the UN one more time.

However, Europe should realize the President is ultimately responsible for protecting Americans and is unlikely to respond well to the types of tactics used by the likes of Chirac or people that run on anti-american platforms. Americans feel some need to participate in just causes, but many are rather too tired of bailing Europe out of its mistakes to trust their judgement over ours.

Regards,
Mark
