Much of Canada is a provincial nightmare where the peoples living there can barely stand or understand eachother much less the US or our 'cowboy' president.
As Canada becomes increasingly liberal and, after the passage of NAFTA, significantly less dependant upon the goodwill of the US Congress for trade, access, etcetera - we will see more of the anti-US positions and verbal sparring.
I do not find it at all amazing that A.N.S.W.E.R. and the other pro-marxist groups registered their websites from Canada in lieu of the US. After several generations of socialized medicine, expecting more and more from the government - Canada is ripe for the sort of socialism-meltdown that a big population boom will bring about. Despite the cold weather, with desperate Chinese immigration to Canada, one can expect a radical realignment of services and benefits once the system starts its slow collapse in about five to ten years (typified by the German slow collapse).
Is it any wonder that the most outspoken critics on these boards of the US and especially Bush hail from nations outside the US?
Likewise, we can be very critical of Canada, Belgium, the UK or elsewhere for much the same reason.
There's always a lingering jealousy/dislike of the US by both Mexico, Canada (and europe too)- feeling we control the destinies of these two nations by our economic superpower status. After all, we blessed both nations with NAFTA against the wishes of our own labor unions, dropped Mexico's outstanding loans and basically bent over backwards in goodwill to both nations.
Unfortunately, gratitude is never a very long lasting thing as people grow accustomed to things and like the wealthy relative who despite giving nice gifts is still scorned for their wealth and position anyway - we endure the snide remarks.
However, this administration is not one to take kindly to the spitting in our general direction from our allies or anyone else. This is the first US administration in years to actually punish nations who act against us.
Schroeder, Chirac...and Chretien all are figuring this out the hard way.
The sad fact that in socialized systems so many are addicted to and permissive of narcotics is quite typical. The initiative and responsibility to maintain ones wits to provide for oneself or one's family (if they even have one and instead simply have their supersaver multiple pass to the state run abortion clinics*) is substituted by a childlike devotion to the state as babysitter and nursemaid.
Self pleasure, escapism and drug addiction are on public display in Europe and anywhere socialism takes root. This feeling that it is a god-given right to be taken care of from cradle to grave is an anathema to anyone with an iota of personal responsibility.
That competitive, survival of the fittest drive has been indoctrinated out of the socialized masses, wherever in the world they find themselves. That's what has sped the German collapse - the utter laziness of the communist east Germans who were, after forty years, not really Germans anymore anyway.
It's all one big mess.

PS Despite this critical post I have nothing against Canadians...really! ;-)
*Which if they are adicted to drugs is probably a darn good thing too.
