Low population density, vast natural resources (though the protections are beginning to deteriorate under the grossly misnamed "Liberal" government - here's an example), no testosterone-driven military budget (face it, Tom - the US was going to spend that money anyway...), an immigration policy that encourages newcomers to be productive and rewards them when they become citizens, and a level of cultural and social tolerance unmatched in the hemisphere.
No wonder the Canadian dollar's worth is rising. My friend in Johannesburg tells me the rand is climbing, too - now explain that one away.
