Why not? Liberals continue to hand wave away a mountain of circumstantial evidence for WMD. It's just as easy for conservatives to hand wave away one suspect justification for a far more supportable one.
Bottom line is: Most Americans think we were justified in our WMD suspicions and feel the liberation of Iraq on top of those suspicions justifies the war regardless of whether or not WMD are found. The issue will go away unless something changes that opinion. Polls already show the absence of WMD will not due that.
On the other hand Bush's mishandling of the economy may sap enough goodwill that the tide will turn against him just as it did for his father.
