The US gained from the food of oil program too, like 23 other nations.
It can't be an issue when it involves France as well as the US , Germany, etc...(well, not those countries, but companies from those countries.).
When the US went to Vietnam, it became very difficult to step out without loosing face, when there were US soldiers continuously in danger to be killed.
Same scenario in Iraq. There are already 22 US soldiers who died after the war ceased.
