I'm called the Oriental a song by Enrico Macias, a Jewish Algerian who emigrated to France and became a famous singer.
The song doesn't point to the "bad" use of the word.
I'm aware asians are sensitive to our kind of language and many cultures are sensitive to other cultures use of words, like "Eskimo" is not at all nice to the inuits. It's someting quite disturbing to discover what is acceptable and what isn't all around the world.
