"Your truth:"
Dan: Big fat alarm bells go off in my head when I hear "truth" preceeded by a possessive. Its called relativism, and its the scourge of Revisionism. There is no such thing as my 'truth' or your 'truth' unless we are talking about what music we like, what God is, or who we think is down-right sexy.
"Regardless, the war remains the War on Terror, and the battles fought thus far have been the Battle for Afghanistan, and the Battle for Iraq."
How can you use regardless in this context? Again- if you are to make the TRUE-OR-FALSE claim that Iraq is about the war on terrorism, you need to tie Iraq to terrorism. Otherwise you are talking perception and NOT truth.
"Disagree all you will, rewrite history all you will, the “facts†remain clear -- whereas your “truth†is seen to be an apparent misinterpretation of actual events."
No, Dan, the 'Facts' of history will be grounded, by historians acting over decades of peer-reviewed scholarship and tradition-tested methodology, upon the foundation of the demonstrably true. If it is NOT demonstrably true that Iraq was a terrorist state, or was bound up with terrorism on an intrensic level, then THAT is how history will remember it. THAT is something you should endeavor to realize. When I tell you Iraq is not, PROVABLY, about the war on terrorism its not about 'My' truth or 'Your' truth or 'Barney-the-dinosaurs' truth- its about objective basis for judgment.
Of course you could yell and moan that history is written by leftist-marxist-conspirators, at which point I refer you to my friend: Dr. Yeti.
"The war declared was on International Terror"
This may be the case. But Iraq is a multi-hundred-billion-dollar red herring. A red herring that cost thousands of lives and the integrity of the american state.
Respectfully,
Davin Lafon
