Pakistan

...What if we'd had the focus and resources to put more pressure on Pakistan, even going into northwest Pakistan and telling the Pakistanis to shove it if they don't like it? Could we have broken Al Qaeda by now?

We could have broken something, that's for sure. Pakistan has working atomic weapons, and like North Korea, needs very careful handling, which probably does not include invading their territory. It is obvious that the use of Pakistan as a Taliban refuge is a sore spot for the Afghanistan situation, and I don't have easy answers. On the other hand, if it was that easy for the Taliban to operate in Pakistan, the Taliban would have written off Afghanistan and just built new camps over there. The fact that they are trying so hard to get back in implies they are not having an easy time working in Pakistan, either.

And admit it: if Bush did something like rolling into Pakistan you would be right in the front lines screaming about what a stupid and senseless thing he was doing.
