Recourse to reason

It doesn't make sense, but still it is argued with passion and brute force of belief.

As it has been since the beginning of this fiasco.

Reason will not prevail here, it did not before the war, and it is not even when the sheer weight of the evidence is crushing.

Evidence? Oh, you mean: the overwhelmingly evident lack of reason, the crushing weight of mindless fanatcism, the absolute certainty: "We're Right because We Say So; we're the United F'ing States of America, goddamnit, and if you disagree you're either crazy or a traitor."

I don't think it matters anymore [. . .] what anyone says in this matter. And if that is the case, what will happen? What will become of us?

Lucky for us, we still (so far) live in a constitutional democratic republic. We have elections. What happens to us is still up to us. That's the positive corollary to that cynical old wheeze about "democracies get the government they deserve."

Realistically, it doesn't make a neutrino's worth of difference what anyone says here, in the Zone. On the other hand, the blind followers of Burning Bush* can deny and denigrate all they want, but they cannot make the rest of the world go away.

Regards,

Fox (another "cynical old wheeze")
