Hi Fox,

If it's coming out of Seattle it must be a Don link. ;-) It's hard to keep track of them all.

Yes, I read that one too. The demonization of Powell. I think Powell is one of the biggest threats to the left's portrayal of a fraudulent war. Everyone who knows the man, his wife and daughter and their family integrity knows that he is not the sort to flat out lie to the nation. They know he believed every word of what he was presenting.

Such a credible boon to Bush's administration must be knocked down a peg or two - to weaken Bush and to hedge bets just in case he runs in 2008 with Condi.

In Iraq, we have found human rights abuses far worse than we expected - and we have found numerous mass graves indicating Saddam was a mass murderer on a scale approaching Hitler, as well torture chambers rivaling and often exceeding the cruelty conceived of by the SS.

We know he has developed and used WMD in the past and likely stashed them where they can't be found easily. We know that concealing the existence of such, was the cornerstone of his policy to attempt to have sanctions lifted. At the same time we were attacked daily by anti aircraft fire due to Saddam's twisted belief that he was invincible and immune from serious attack by the US - a feeling surely bolstered when Schwarzkopf allowed Iraqi military helicopter flights after the Persian Gulf war. (Which were used to slaughter the rising anti-Saddam revolutionaries.)

Unfortunately, Saddam had so much money and so many friends in enemy foreign governments that he could build all sorts of things and hide things very well. This time of the year is the worst time to go on needle in haystack hunts. It's 113 degrees in Iraq and the main focus is keeping troops hydrated, cool and alive while hunting Baathist fugitives and bigwigs. When winter comes - all sorts of digging and excavations can occur. Satellite surveys are scanned and looked over for clues as to potential disparities in the surface features. However, Iraq is a desert. Desert winds can change the feautures of the surface naturally, leading to endless frustration for the hunters. Saddam trusts/trusted no one - not even his own sons. He was/is a loner. Workers who completed tasks for Saddam were often killed by other folks sent out who didn't even know what they were doing or why they were killing them. This left Saddam as the only man who knew where some things are located. That was his modus operandi for "compartmentalization" of secrets - indiscrimiante killing. Any WMD concealment workers surely met the same fate as did many of his workers. This has left very few people who know where anything of consequence is. As I mention in the previous post - we will be finding illicit materials in Iraq for years.

If WMD do pop up and are presented - I wonder if it will quiet the critics at all. They must surely find something to demonize Bush with prior to 2004. If they are lucky they may be able to use the economy. But Greenspan's efforts have helped to keep that from falling apart and it may actually recover by Christmas time. If x-mas 2003 is any good for retailers and manufacturers, it will be very hard for democrats to unseat Bush or recover Congress.

The endless defense of Clinton and the public's disinterest in the details of his escapades comes back to haunt democrats now - when the same fickle public cares not a whit about some drums of highly toxic chemicals and only sees that a "bad guy" was defeated. For most American's that's more than enough.

Likewise, the media are searching for a golden cash cow to idolize and kneel down before - and they seem to have rallied around the WMD issue to sell and fill their chests. They better beware it's not melted down and served to them for breakfast in 2004.

It's not so long ago that the media were complaining how aloof Bush was from the middle east's problems and how much more involved Clinton was. It's amazing how fast things change!

But the bottomline remains the same - let events and others rule your consciousness, determine your happiness or frustration and you will never be the captain of your own ship and instead will be dashed upon the rocks of despair, blown by the gale of public opinion, and sunk in the seas of apathy which lie near the land of hate.
