[L]et events and others rule your consciousness, determine your happiness or frustration and you will never be the captain of your own ship and instead will be dashed upon the rocks of despair, blown by the gale of public opinion, and sunk in the seas of apathy which lie near the land of hate.
Ignore the hurricane warnings that others issue because the time of year is wrong, and pay no attention to the lighthouse perched on the islet out beyond the harbor as it blinks its warning, and your ship will be buffetted by gales until its hull is pierced by concealed reefs, due to your own pride and ignorance, never bringing to shore the cargo of prosperity in which your investors put so much stock.
Believe, like others before you, that "Only God Can Sink This Ship", and you may find yourself whacked by an iceberg and sinking in the North Atlantic, as God takes you up on your challenge. Your passengers will curse you for stinting on the life boats, but most of them were only poor souls in steerage, anyway, and of no account.
