Don't let it get you down. When cycles change there's sometimes a bit of fireworks and then it usually stablizes. Visiting Europe sometimes brings back old pasts - some of them less than pleasurable.
Re: AARP
If you subscribe to any travel magazines, you'll get the a lot invitation sooner. I got mine at 32. They must figure in today's world if you travel a lot - you must be retired. Granted, it's a bit creepy, but I got a laugh out of my invite and I immediately knew the business practices of the travel magazine - who obviously sold my name to them. Unfortuantely, it sets off a chain reaction and soon you'll find "senior" shopping coupons in your box and, inexplicably, lots of household "surveys." (Older folks have time to fill these out? Are more honest? What?)
If you've subscribed to anything new within the last six months - bingo - there's your suspect invitation source.

Still waiting to hear about your adventures in the lands of the socialists!
"Tom in the Land of the Socialists" - sounds like a Tintin title by Herge.
