Regardless of the sincere motives of the protesters worldwide (their organizers are another matter), there were repeated warnings that these mass anti-war protests would be perceived in the Middle East and other Islamic enclaves as supporting Saddam and other hostile regimes and terrorist organizations like the Hamas. There is no middle ground here. It really is a case of being either "for us or agin us" when it comes to countering militant Islamic/Arab nationalist terrorism. If you do not want to actively seek and destroy the terrorists and extremists, you only aid and abet them and their "cause" by your inaction, ignorance or indifference - in short, you are a terrorist enabler.
