Oh, Tom, I'm not even suggesting you not pay your taxes! I'm suggesting you make sure your tax records are squeaky clean going back 15 years, with documentation if possible, and then challenge their disclosure regulations in court as a violation of privacy rights.
You have on occasion :) railed against the Democrats as the party of socialism. You have forgotten something. The Federal government is a bureaucracy composed of people whose jobs depend not so much on who's in the majority, but the continuation of the bureaucracy. With the elections, the heads change, but many of the subordinates stay the same. Big Government is at least as much dependent on those careerists maintaining the structure in which they live as it is on the political party of the year and their support of their pet squids.
The IRS is a very powerful bureaucracy, and I believe it has a life of its own. It will take an original thought to cut it down, not just a change of party.
You had one. I thought I'd ask.
Best regards--
Mary Anne
