re: Army General’s Radical Christian Views

He is now an official of the Department of Defense. He is obligated, in his official capacity, not to do or say things that screw up the present Administration's efforts in Iraq and among Muslim nations.

Making the types of remarks that he makes, injecting his religious beliefs into comments on his involvement in Administration business, fails to live up to that obligation.

I'm not saying he can't go to church, or that he can't speak publicly about his religious beliefs, but if he can't keep his lip buttoned about his, shall we say, controversial views on "holy war", he should resign his position with the DoD before he does some serious damage. He has already impeded his own ability to do the job the DoD appointed him to do. How is he going to gather intelligence in cooperation with Arabs and Islamic groups when he has already publicly called them idol-worshippers? I already heard in a report on NPR that "one prominent Arab-American group has demanded that the Pentagon reassign him." That group is CAIR.

Either that, or we can rename the Army "the Crusaders" and have done with it.

Maybe it's not a religious war from our end, but it sure as hell is from the view of the radical Islamists.

Yes. Does this mean that people representing our government ought to sound like them? Apparently, from General Boykin's remarks, he shares their world view, except he calls his viewpoint "Christian". Speaking as a non-believing American, I object to his characterization of my nation.
