"From each according to his ability..."

For two cents, I'd let that post just sit and fester for all to see, like the dog's latest miscalculation on the carpet. But for the record:

You got a problem with that? Water flows a lot like money. There are creeks, rivers, fountainheads and oceans.

Wealth is not a natural resource. It is the product of human effort. Many would like you to think there is just a Bucket of Wealth out there to be passed around. With a cut for themselves, of course. The idea that wealth simply "is" is sold to us by those who have not earned it but would sure like to spend it.

Wealth by it's very nature SHOULD BE redistributed.

This is a pile of bullshit large enough to have a measurable gravity field. Wealth belongs to those who earn it. To redistribute it by force--the only way it can be done by a government--is to enslave those people who earn it. I realize a perceptual mentality can only see "work" as someone turning a bolt or pushing a rake. Believe me, there's more to productivity than that.

And I'm sick and tired of hearing you whining about how much you pay in taxes. If you were richer, you wouldn't have to pay so much. You could take your business off shore and not pay any taxes at all.....with the agreement and encouragment of your own government! If you were poorer, you'd pay just the same percent of taxes you are paying now, only your back would be broken and your hands would callused and chances are Katie wouldn't HAVE the extra electronic gadgets to re-route around the household.

I highly suspect you have never filled out a tax form more complex than a 1040EZ, assuming you pay taxes at all. Your idea that the poor are taxed at the same percentage rate as the rich almost nails it. I got my calluses in the cornfields and factories, and slogging bags around the Post Office when I was young, and I used my brains to make sure I wouldn't have to exercise anything but my typing and drafting fingers from then on. Surprisingly, this is not an unusual career history for an American. There's nothing wrong with slinging french fries in high school. If you are still slinging fries when you are 40, maybe the problem isn't the economic system.

I earn what I make, and I make a lot when times are good because I'm in a risky business where demand is high sometimes, and not others. Right now, I'm making less than half what I made last year, and that will probably continue through next year. That's how contracting works. And guess what: I'm not coming to your house with a gun to ask you to make up the difference, either.

What do you do for a living?
