I think the points Lindy makes have merit. We really do need to be concerned and aware of what we're doing in the world, regardless of whether you support the ongoing war or not. And with a tight-lipped government, being aware is a fulltime job. Bless Lindy for voicing questions--even painful ones about beleifs and establishments that many Americans hold dear. If we can't examine these, and hold them up to a stark light, we're in trouble.
And this: That all this BS given and delivered only amounts to a months' worth of nation wide traffic fatalities? Lets stop and put the BLAME somewhere and roll out the seatbelts. Let's IMPROVE the cars. Let's find out what we need to fix in THIS country first...
is not at all a non-sequiter. If we're really concerned about massive numbers of Americans deaths, then let's be just that. What sense does it make to simply dismiss the huge tragedy of roadway deaths while becoming red-faced with rage over 9/11? Is the former acceptable? Or rather, since traffic deaths can't be in any way be addressed with rockets and tanks, is it simply not a "sexy" problem?
