Chaos theory shows that there are many systems that don't have simple answers and much of an economy runs on chaotic principles. Companies that get into trouble follow catastrophe theory much better than probability. Show me for example a simple equation to describe turbulence against aircraft or in weather.
Studies done of jails show that riots also follow catastrophe theory. Many of these problems are incapable of being described simply. War in many cases is the same as is rioting. Many of the problems in Iraq are occuring in good agreement with chaos.
Much of situation could be said to have occured by this oversimplification which sowed the seeds of chaos. Also much of the economic problems are also probably from chaos, which cannot be represented simplistically.
