No parallel on the left?

...Card doesn't even mention what is at the heart of my thesis: the increasingly violent nature of rightist rhetoric, and its encroaching eliminationism -- nor would he, since there really is no parallel to it on the left.

I'm sorry, but it just flabbergasts me that this guy can't even see the "violent" and "eliminationist" rhetoric coming from the Left in this country. I could fill a page with links that suggest otherwise, and not just from fly-by-night outfits either. A search of "Bush" and "chimp" gives almost 68,000 returns.

Look at Democrats.com. This is not a bunch of goofballs in the basement. Look at who runs it. Crackpots these ain't. This is the beating heart of the mainstream Democratic Party, people who used to or still have high positions in government, and only their need to hide these radical views for election purposes keeps the Democratic Party at arm's length from this web site.

Look at the current line of bestsellers--you can't tell me that the Left isn't holding its own in the hysterical attack department. One just has to try giving a conservative lecture on a college campus to learn how tolerant the Left is, and Dean has already gone on record as saying he would use the power of government to attack specific media outlets.

Try joining a liberal organization and telling them you're pro-life. See what happens to the tolerance. Ask Tammy Bruce about tolerance. Ask any liberal who has strayed from the agenda.

Do I really need to document the vile abuse of Bush that began, not after 9/11, not after the invasion of Iraq, not after the tax cuts or any other policy, but about thirty minutes after he took the oath of office? Democrats.com was founded before the goddam 2000 election.

The idea of the poor, poor Left lying on the floor and gazing up at the evil Right with huge, dewy eyes, going "why me? What did I ever do to you?" makes me laugh until I get the hiccups. The Democratic Party in Washington has spent forty years ripping out the throats of its opposition in Congress, something that didn't change until 1994. Ask long-time Republican congressmen how it was in the Age of Tip O'Neill.

Give me a break.

This response, one of the links in the post Greg linked to, is worth reading, and just adds more examples to my point. Don't forget to check out Orson Scott Card's piece, too.

Greg is right, this series of blog links has been very informative.
