re: What? Didn't anybody watch Battlestar Galactica last night?

While I watched the original for a half dozen episodes, for me it tired quickly. I had intended to skip this reincarnation too, given SciFi’s track record with original productions.
However, I didn’t have much choice last night as I didn’t have the remote :8^0 and my Word Processor has a bad case of the hiccups.

I was pleasantly surprised, a lot of the schock is gone and it has an edge to it that the original series didn’t. People getting left behind don’t stand nobly by and watch the last ship leave, the com traffic as the ships with FTL have to abandon the others, and other scenes shown with a desperate tone are much better.

The most emotional scene for me was the little girl on the doomed ship, playing with her doll and singing.

Until the fusion flash.

Got me where it counts, this version has an undertone of harsh reality.

And the loss of some of the original stock phrases are a great improvement!.

Yeah it’s a recycled series from one of the more cruddy periods of TV, but it is much improved over the original.
