I watched it, and was very impressed with the SFX. I wasn't a fan of the original, so the change of some characters didn't bother me at all - in fact, I think it's kinda cool that the feisty rule-bender (Starbuck) is a woman.
As to the jargon... I don't miss the made-up "yahrens" (and "centons" and so on) one little bit; way too much like hokey old 1940s scifi. They didn't get rid of the planet/place names, thinly disguised versions of zodiacal constellations which sound equally stupid... but, thank the gods, no daggets!
