I was a big fan of the original, and young enough to even enjoy the robot dog! And this new series looks great. Terrific effects--sometimes understated, sometimes in-your-face awesome.
The Sci-Fi Network, imho, doesn't have the best track-record when it comes to home-grown production, but this is a very pleasant change. I like the new Starbuck..yeah, she could lose the cigar, but at least they found an actress with real-life muscles as opposed to a sculpted, iron-pumping clothes-horse.
One of many things I liked about last night's show was that at nearly every turn, something really, really bad was happening. That's gonna set the rest of the shows up for some great drama. An english prof of mine told me years ago, if you wanna have people gloued to the page, kick your hero down a deep well in chapter one and then let the reader watch him try to climb, bloodied and broken, back up to the top.
Hey, nobody ever said drama was pretty! :-)
