Your first link is to an article primarily describing how the Democrats are going to lie to us about the causes of interest rate changes and deficits, and about their policies, to try and force tax increases. Big news.
Your second link tells us to listen to Reps. Dennis Kucinich, Barbara Lee and Bernie Sanders, three of the few Congressional representatives who are actually card-carrying socialists, as they tell us how to fix an economy by increasing welfare payments to the voters. Tax credits to people who don't pay taxes is welfare.
None of these three idiots know jack shit about how wealth is actually created or how economic prosperity is actually accomplished.
You increase prosperity by allowing the private sector to keep a lot of their own money. Not just a symbolic pittance. As I pointed out before, "tax cuts" to the poor make great press, but the small amount of money actually retained in the private sector doesn't actually do much for the economy. If you are going to make tax cuts big enough to actually make a dent in an economy, some of it has to be to people who pay large amounts of taxes. That's just math.
Anyway, by 2005, some interesting things will have been learned:
First, unemployment will be down considerably. Second, the CBO will have released updated calculations on future revenues and deficits. Their last calculation was last August, based on an average growth rate of less than 3.5 percent into the forseeable future. The minimum growth rate currently predicted by economists is 4 percent or even as high as 5 percent. The CBO August prediction was for a deficit of $401 billion in 2003, and $480 billion in 2004. Actual 2003 deficit: about $374 billion. What's the actual 2004 deficit going to be? We'll have a pretty good idea before next November.
