How is anyone able to use that phrase with a straight face? If you were 10 years old, you could maybe get away with it, but I hear people who supposedly know better dumping this crap on people.
There is not a single indicator by percentages, especially in constant dollars, where the current economy can be labeled "worst in history." Or for that matter, the economy during ANY portion of Bush's administration. Do politicians really think we're that stupid?
Maybe "most cell phone employees out of work" might do it, since there was no such industry a few years ago.
As for tax cuts, an across-the-board cut will go largely to the wealthy because they pay the most taxes. Now, given that your philosophy is that the wealthy should be drained of their wealth to buy votes off the poor, I can understand why "across the board" doesn't appeal to you, but I don't agree with that philosophy, and apparently neither does Bush. When your party wins, you can go back to the socialist approach. It's worked so well everywhere else.
Economists were quite clear in saying it wouldn't stimulate the economy just like it didn't work in Reagan's and Poppy's time.
Plenty of economists have been saying that the current growth can be traced directly to the tax cuts. I guess it depends on which economists you listen to. Actually, tax cuts worked quite well for Reagan. They worked quite well for Kennedy. And they're working quite well now. It's beginning to look a little bizarre for you and others to pontificate how tax cuts can't possibly improve an economy, when they are obviously doing just that.
Now because of one good quarter after enormous and badly designed stimulus the economy has grown and all of a sudden that justifies all the wrong forecasts and stupid policies of the past. Just another seemingly endless example of how bone headed supply side economics is and why it's regarded as nonsense in economics. It's because it stuffs everything up, it's the scientific equivalent of creationism.
"Now because the economy has grown after a stimulus, you stupid conservatives think that the economy will grow after a stimulus."
Do you even listen to yourself? Pal, I'm not the one hiding from reality.
