Thats because many are now self-employed.

The new jobs figures do not include jobs created by small mom & pop business, individualls who choose to go the independant contractor route, and many others

Only the largest companies and government agencies are sampled when coming up with the "jobs created" count. In otherwords, the figures can, and do, lie.

- Unfortunately, you seem to be correct. The employment rate (% of persons employed) has gone DOWN. This is very bad news. I don't see any recovery of jobs coming in the next few years. - David F Mayer - 1/11/2004 6:18:37 AM
