Some people think Dick's assertion that the Iraqis had "reconstituted nuclear weapons" is his best lie, but he had a better one. During his speech at the 2000 Republican convention, Cheney waxed philosophical about all the helicopter rides he'd taken from Andrews Air Force Base to the Pentagon:
-
". . . you cross the Potomac, on approach to the Pentagon. But just before you settle down on the landing pad, you look upon Arlington National Cemetery, its gentle slopes and crosses row on row. I never once made that trip without being reminded how enormously fortunate we all are to be Americans, and what a terrible price thousands have paid so that all of us -- and millions more around the world -- might live in freedom."
-
Kinda touching, thinking about all those trips, every trip Cheney looking at all those rows of crosses and being reminded of that terrible price. The problem, of course, is that the graves row on row at Arlington are marked with white rectangular headstones rounded at the top, not crosses.

There hasn't been a liar like Cheney in Washington since Reagan and Bush the Elder left. Clinton was honest Abe compared to these guys.
