It is for science- it is designed to see things we cant.. the VAST majority of information is stuff the human eye cant see... You might as well whine that the chandra x-ray telescope pictures arent true color....
I honestly do not understand your obsession on this....
In my last job I focussed 1.5 kW of 1064 nm (invisible) light down to make a 300,000 degree plasma- The vacuum chamber we did this in had a quartz window that you could look through at the plasma... If you were to look at the plasma without wearing goggles that blocked the 1064 nm scattered laser light you would certainly suffer retinal damage- everyone wore such goggles. The problem was they thought it was safe to look at the plasma if they had the goggles on- it wasnt-
The plasma 'looked' only slightly painfully bright, but even more invisible light was hitting your retina... The temptation to look at the plasma was so strong we had to install a shield to block viewing....

- It isnt easy, or even possible, Bob
- Oh, and here is an unrelated fact about the eye that I bet no one here will believe:

- Gee, Bob- maybe they are busy doing real science?
