The Left has worked very hard to obliterate any terminology that can be used to describe an ideology that supports total economic and political control of a society by a powerful centralized authority.
Heck, they don't even like being called "the Left" any more. They're "progressives" now. In a few years, it'll be something else.
You've wiped out terms that put your beliefs in an uncomfortable spot, and as a bonus, redefined "fascism" to mean people who think the centralized authority is too powerful and controls too much. Mussolini would laugh until he got the hiccups.
