re: Stereo image pairs animation 'n' stuff

Robert,

I have been musing on how to do 3-d side-by-side videos for a long time, or animated gifs, mpegs, etc, by many different means, but computers and AV are not really my realm, more of a tool in my tool box.

Could a set of anaglyphs be assembled into a quicktime video? Again, something I know nothing about.

I'm a touch confused by your Babylon 5 reference. I've not watched much of that series, been more into reading the last several years (esp. Varley, Simmons, Stephenson) than watching serials, so if that is a reference to the show, I can't help you.

Are you mistaking me for someone else? I've never been in that line o' work, I'd like to, though. I'd like to see more of the geologic sciences documented in fictional work, so often geology is soooo badly done by the media. The geologist often seems to be an 'expendable ensign' on Trek. The Core? gimme a break. Dante's Peak...oh pleaze!

These days I am working on a major geologic map compilation of portions of several states using AutoCad. I also prepare figures for geologic reports. I don't get out in the field as much as I used to. Geologic field exploration in the US has largely dried up (at least for volcanogenic massive sulfide, my field in the field) and I've little interest in international work ('cept for the proterozoic rocks of Australia, that'd be cool). But now and again a project will come up. Most of the field geologists I've worked with are doing other things now. Maybe with metals prices rising that will change and I can break out the brunton and hammer again.

One of these days I'll post a bio, this appears to be a nice community of reasoning adults who've taught me much in the last several sols. And I'm not trying to suck up or anything, but I am really impressed at the comments, abilities, and credentials of most of the posting individuals on this board.
