strange coincidences and stranger anaglyphs

Went over to mer.rlproject.com, and darn if I didn't find Alex. I'd heard he was running an exclusive club on Yahoo, and I'd been trying to dig up his email address to shamelessly promote the Workbench on his board. To ice the serendipity cake, while I was looking for Alex's email address in Outlook I came across email from you from a couple of years ago, about Viking Lander colorization. Eerie...[cue the cliches]...it's a small world...the more things change, the more they stay the same...six degrees of separation...and so on.

I'm tempted to register at your board just to reach Alex, but that would also tempt me to post a Workbench plug there. Would that be OK with you?

It's been a long time since I tried to roll my own anaglyphs. Viking, I think, and the full meter of separation between eyes about made my head explode when I tried to view the results. I've forgotten how I did it, so, could you refresh my memory, how do you make anaglyphs by hand? And is there any way to compensate for separation much wider than the normal human eyes?

I could only locate one anaglyph applet anywhere, so I'm kind of limited to doing what it can do. However, it does have an option (confusingly located not on the Option menu but on the View menu, subsection "Pure anaglyphs"), to use red/green and red/[pure]blue. Each produces a background that's mostly the intermediate color, which sounds about right. Is this what you meant? Don't you need corresponding glasses to use different colors?
