Well, you never know

Diametrically opposed worldviews can, sometimes, be reconciled at least to a degree. As Lindy's mentioned elsewhere, she and I used to have the most nasty snarling matches. Looking back on them now, I think it was mostly because my worldview had solidified into an immutable, rock-like substance, and she kept introducing concepts into the discussion that just did not fit into the way I saw things.

That felt very threatening to me. Here I was thinking I'd gotten everything figured out and "the left," if you will, was forcing me to re-evaluate those comfy conclusions.

I remember quite clearly the first time I read one of Bowser's posts and was unable to dismiss it with a shrug. Suddenly, and to me, shockingly, I was looking at something--which happened to be the Palestinian-Israeli conflict--from a vantage point I'd never seen it from before. He was making sense, and let me tell you, at first I was NOT happy about that.

Anyway, philisophical movement can happen. People do change. And that change can begin, in no small part, in a place like this. Maybe the day will come, Mary Anne, when you and SDAI can have a mutually satisfactory discussion.
