It seems like whenever the government is handout money, people get deep pockets. So much of it seems to get lost in those pockets. I wonder how much money actually does what it is supposed to?

Our church sticks it through to make sure the families get the help they need.

We are a small church with limited resources. We can’t help everyone. We put our resources towards helping families.

We also do things like repair homes for the poor, both here in the US and down in Mexico.

Single families need help to. If one came to our church asking for help, we would not turn them away.

The social figures I was referring to do include social security. They come from last year. Someone on the Space board was crying about how NASA is a waste in their money should be used for social programs. Several people there (I think Larry was one) came up with actual data on what is spent toward social programs each year in America. It was something like 700 billion, compared to the 13 billion NASA was getting (I think they are 14 or 15 now)

Anyway, I think locals should take care of their own. Family if possible, then churches and private organizations. Leave government as a last resort.
