One of my pet-peeves is the people who say “We should fix our problems here on Earth before we explore space,” or “The money spent on NASA should be used to feed the homeless.”

People who say this need to compare how much money NASA gets to Social programs. They also need to understand that the human race has always had problems, and always will have problems. If we wait until we become a perfect race, we’ll never explore space and we’ll stagnate as a race until we make this planet uninhabitable.

There is no reason why we can help feed the hungry while we explore space. The knowledge we have gained already has paid for NASA.
