re: Pay no attention

I wish I could go back and list all the glorious "silver bullets" the Left has dug up over the past year or so. Each one was going to be the break that would send Bush packing in disgrace. Each one was analyzed and discussed and microscopically examined for weeks by the media. This time for sure! Remember the delight the media took in the words "frog marched?" All of them fell flat, and so will this one.

The big story a week ago was Clarke's 60 Minutes appearance, his book, and his testimony. They don't even agree with each other, much less earlier statements that surfaced later.

Remember? The big deal was that Bush dropped the ball, and took Clinton's great antiterror program and shoved it aside? Headlines reading "Bush Didn't Have High Priority on Terror?" That went on for DAYS.

Then the testimony started coming out, other voices started being heard, and the facts behind Clarke's allegations were dug up. The story changed a bit. Maybe you haven't been keeping up.

And if you have been reading my links, it isn't just the blogosphere finding holes in the Clarke scenarios.

The Washington Post article that you won't read admitted that Bush pretty much carried on whatever Clinton had been doing, and with pretty much the same emphasis. Before 9/11 both administrations did something about al Qaeda, but neither did enough. And you know what? Before 9/11 there wasn't a hell of a lot more either could have done.

Now suddenly we switch the spotlight away from Clarke's implosion and onto Rice. Nice try.

And let's not forget to keep that damn spotlight away from Kerry, Mr. "Tax the Rich" who just promised to cut corporate taxes.

If you don't even read the papers online, where are you getting all your information? Maybe you subscribe to all of them?
