Perhaps we could consolidate 2 states to keep it an even 50? Rhode Island cojus looks like it should be part of Connecticut to me.
Crazy as it sounds, there was a serious proposal floating around Spokane WA a few years back that talked of turning everything east of the cascades of Washington State and Oregon into one large State. It got a lot of laughs and nothing else. They were talking about calling it Columbia. Damn that would be confusing trying to figure out if your talking about Washington, Columbia, or Washington District of Columbia. Its bad enough talking to foriegners who think Washington is where the President lives.
