It won't happen, but....historically speaking, Syria
was apparently offered to America after WW1
as a colony by a French general at a postwar
conference on the Middle-East [a conference to carve-up the
defeated Ottoman Empire; the one "Lawrence of Arabia" attended].
The American general at the conference who received the offer, turned it down.
