> Who do you THINK is shooting at us, blowing up our vehicles, and setting off car bombs with the specific purpose of eliminating the chance of a self-governing Iraq?
Of course that is terrorism, and I hope for a safe return home for US and coalition forces. But I meant it differently -
by "convince me you're fighting terrorism" I mean DOMESTIC terrorism in the US, Australia, everywhere else .. Were Hussein and the Baathists connected to al-Qaeda (and fellow travellers) or not? DIRECTLY connected - aiding and abetting? Only then is the war justified in my (current) opinion. And maybe that is the case. If I see solid proof - note: not just general arguments - that 'taking out' Iraq was essential to eliminating domestic terrorism, then I'll support the war.
Otherwise, it would seem to be dangerous military adventurism, no matter how disgusting Hussein and the Baathists were. In that case, Iraqi terrorism against the coalition would be better characterized as 'vicious resistance' or something similar.
I'm sure you can come up with some hard facts & figures (or point me to another post) and I look forward to reading them. Meanwhile, regardless of the real facts, I wish safety for all US and other coalition personnel.
