The yellowcake was not part of an active WMD program at the time we invaded. I never claimed it was.
It was the remnants of an active WMD program prior to the Gulf War, one which the U.N. missed entirely until after that war.
The kneejerk liberal response to Iraq is that if only we had simply relied on the U.N., Saddam's regime would have been "contained" forever. My post was a reminder that there is absolutely no evidence that this would have been so. The U.N. also missed the Pakistani nuke ring, most of Libya's WMD program, and is currently enthusiastically screwing the pooch in Iran.
Trusting our freedom and safety to the U.N. is like trusting Barney Fife to guard your town. And at least Barney wasn't on the take from those it was supposed to be watching, like the U.N. has been.
