Yes it's pseudo-scientific, and no, it's not garbage, nor is he insane (to all appearances). Nor is being 'uneducated' any sort of slur in my universe - especially if the person is naturally curious and decent.
SDAI does irritates me with those occasional smarmy or arrogant diatribes (which I remember so infuriated Mary Anne last year). A lot of people do that in forums though, and I'm sure (if you look hard enough RL) you'll find other instances of it even here in HZ.
