re: the question

You know what? I've been following what's been going on in Afghanstan. And guess what? Nobody has let up on the terrorists either there or in Pakistan. Of course, Afghanistan isn't news, probably because not enough Americans are dying there, or because it isn't politically fashionable to hammer on that particular war right now.

The root premise of this whole thing, which is that somehow Bush could have "selected" when bin Laden was captured, is where you start to get into the looney zone.

As for Tora Bora, we made the mistake of letting the Afghan forces try to do the job, primarily to appease the leftist idiots in this country who, at the time, were bitching about how we were abusing the poor Afghans with our nasty imperialist military. Maybe you don't remember the attempts to "Vietnamize" Afghanistan before the Left shifted its focus to Iraq. I do. Sure as hell the Left has written its massive antiwar protest movement back then out of its history books.

- How much of our military was in Iraq in December of 2001? Where was the distraction at the command level in Afghanistan?

- How many people are idiotic enough to believe that if we had caught bin Laden in 2001 that the entire anti-American terror movement would have folded up? That Zarqawi would be working at a 7-11 today?

We captured Saddam. Result from the Left? "Who the hell cares." I'd bet a month's pay that if we had nailed bin Laden last year instead, all of you would be yelling, "So where's Saddam?"

I think it's more important that we win the war than who gets elected. Do you?
