Could we stop treating this as though Bush is out there personally hunting for bin Laden in a pith helmet?
There are now, and have been for almost three years, special forces, commands, and other units assigned to this in Afghanistan and elsewhere. Guess what, they don't freeze in place like tin soldiers when Bush pays attention to something else.
And considering bin Laden's most likely location right now is in Pakistan or Iran, assigning ten thousand more troops to catching him is going to accomplish what, exactly? Why do you think we have to turn the screws on Pakistan, which only started really cooperating with us when we caught them with their pants down in the Khan affair?
The job is getting done. And hey, if the people hunting bin Laden suck at it, there won't be an October Surprise, so why complain? After all, nothing is more important than getting Bush out of office.
